Program:
Limited to 20 students
1) Introduction: image fundamentals: resolution, brightness, contrast, etc.
Microscopy theory: physical and geometrical optics, microscope components, contrast techniques: dark field, phase, polarization,
interference. Fluorescence. Image acquisition and storage.
2) Three-dimensional and dynamic techniques: laser confocal, multiphoton, spinning disc and slit-scan confocal, deconvolution.
3) Super-resolution and specialized techniques: TIRF, FLIM, 4pi,STED. GSD, STORM, PALM, SIM.
The course is intended for pos-doctoral or advanced graduate students. Proficiency in English is a requirement. Independent use of microscopy
for research is also expected. Students will be selected through an abridged resumee and a letter stating the reasons for attending the
course, both in English.
